History of Lucky for Life

Lucky for Life is a multi-state lottery game that was originally launched in Connecticut in 2009. The game was later expanded to include additional states, including Colorado.

In Colorado, the first drawing took place on January 31, 2016. The first Colorado winner of the game was a woman from Boulder, who won $25,000 a year for life.

Since its launch in Colorado, the draw has become a popular lottery game, with thousands of players participating in each drawing. The game is known for its unique prize structure, which offers players the chance to win a lifetime payout, rather than a one-time lump sum.

Ways to play

Players can choose their own numbers or opt for a random play, which randomly generates numbers for them. Additionally, players can purchase tickets for multiple drawings in advance.

In each drawing, players can win one of ten different prize levels, ranging from the top prize of $1,000 a day for life to a $4 prize for matching just the Lucky Ball number.

Lucky for Life dates

Lucky for Life drawings are held seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday, at around 8:35 p.m. (MT).

Price

The cost to play is $2 per ticket. This includes one set of numbers for a single drawing. Players can also choose to add a second set of numbers for an additional $1, which gives them a second chance to win.

Procedures

In Colorado, the winning numbers are drawn using a mechanical machine with numbered balls. The drawing takes place at the lottery’s headquarters in Connecticut and is broadcast live on their YouTube channel.

First, five main numbers are drawn from the machine, followed by a Lucky Ball number. Once the drawing is complete, the winning numbers are posted on the Colorado Lottery website and TuLotero app.

Jackpot and prizes

There are 10 prize levels in the game, ranging from the grand prize of $1,000 a day for life to a $4 prize for matching just the Lucky Ball number.

The grand prize of $1,000 a day for life is paid out as an annuity, which means the winner will receive $1,000 every day for the rest of their life. Alternatively, the winner can choose a one-time cash payment of $5.75 million.
